On December 3, 2021, Associate Professor Wu Jie, Department of Chemistry, National University of Singapore, and Professor Naohiko Yoshikai, School of Pharmacy, Tohoku University, Japan, visited the 27th New Energy Forum. Relevant teachers and graduate students from the School of New Energy and the School of Chemical Engineering attended the eport.
Wu Jie is a tenured associate professor of the Department of Chemistry, National University of Singapore, a doctoral supervisor, and the director of the master's program in chemistry. Associate Professor Wu Jie gave an online academic report titled Flow Technology: Toward Automation and On-Demand Synthesis, introducing new methods of photochemical synthesis, as well as the development of continuous flow chemical reaction devices and their applications in drug synthesis, focusing on It demonstrates the team's achievements in heterogeneous catalysis and end-to-end automated synthesis of drugs.
Naohiko Yoshikai is a professor at the School of Pharmacy, Tohoku University, Japan. Prof. Naohiko Yoshikai gave an online academic report titled Discovery and Development of Novel Trivalent Iodin-Mediated Trasformations, introducing the green synthesis strategy of periodonide-based drugs and its application in the efficient synthesis of high value-added pharmaceutical intermediates application. This paper focuses on the team's work on the efficient and green synthesis of multi-substituted indoles, furans, alkenyl ethers and other pharmaceutical intermediates using periodic iodine compounds.
In the exchange session after the academic report, the two professors gave detailed answers to the questions raised by teachers and students. This exchange activity deepened the faculty and students' knowledge and understanding of related fields, and played a positive role in promoting future scientific research work.
