In 1986, the Department of Automation of the former East China Petroleum Institute conducted a pilot program for the majors of electrical automation, diverting half of the students from the original electronic information technology major and training them according to the direction of electrical automation; The construction of electrical automation major; in 1998, with the approval of China National Petroleum Corporation, the electrical engineering and automation major was formally established. In 2001, the Department of Automation was renamed the School of Information Control and Engineering, and the Electrical Teaching and Research Section was renamed the Department of Electrical Engineering. In July 2019, the Department of Electrical Engineering was transferred to the School of New Energy.
The Department of Electrical Engineering currently has 26 full-time teachers, including 5 with senior professional titles, 12 with deputy senior professional titles, and 9 with intermediate professional titles.
The Department of Electrical Engineering has one undergraduate major in Electrical Engineering and Automation. This major includes three undergraduate training directions: Power Electronics and Electric Drive, Power System, New Energy and Smart Grid. This major was approved as a key construction specialty in Shandong Province in 2009; in 2020, it passed the engineering education professional certification of the Ministry of Education; in February 2021, it was listed as a national first-class undergraduate professional construction site; in October 2013, it was included in the national outstanding engineer education and training Plan professional.
Electrical engineering is a first-level discipline authorized for master's degree, and it is the discipline direction in the field of energy power doctoral degree authorization and master's degree authorization. This discipline can grant a master of engineering degree in power electronics and power transmission, power system and its automation, and electrical machinery and electrical appliances.
The Department of Electrical Engineering has long attached importance to basic theoretical research, the development of advanced technology and the transformation of application results, and has achieved fruitful research results. In the past four years, more than 10 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and provincial and ministerial key projects have been obtained. More than 150 papers have been published in SCI/EI. He has successively won 3 provincial and ministerial awards and more than 30 authorized invention patents, making important contributions to national and local economic development and social progress. In May 2018, it became one of the co-construction schools of the Global Energy Internet (Shandong) Collaborative Innovation Center. The school has established good cooperation and exchange relations with world-renowned universities in the United States, Britain, France, Denmark and other countries.
